All teachers have completed the Advanced Training in Early Childhood Music from The Center For Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ and are registered Music Together® teachers.
CAROL CHAPIN is founder and director of Heartsong Kids, LLC. A lifelong lover and doer of acting and music, as a kid she dragged all the neighborhood children into her plays, eventually studied acting in London and New York in the 1970’s and is a great believer in the fun and exhilaration improvisation can bring to our lives. She is a pianist and composer of songs and tone poems and studied Dalcroze Eurhythmics in NY which taught her that all music comes from the body. A great lover of animals, children, trees and music, she lives in Brooklyn with her cats, a bunch of ancient trees out back and is always grateful for the children and adults she plays with in our Music Together classes. She believes that the power of community and the joy of musicmaking can transform our lives by opening our hearts and helping us remember how to play again. MAREN ELLEFSON is originally from Minnesota. She holds a BS in Elementary Education and is certified as a teacher. Maren is also a professional singer and has been working for Carnival Cruise Lines since graduating college in 2007. She recently moved to Brooklyn to pursue 'land living' as well as a career in singing. Her first experience with Music Together was while she was working as a nanny. She had the honor of taking the little boy she cared for to his classes and knew she had to be a part of this great program as it combines her love of music with her passion for working with children. Maren has a vivacious personality and creates a fun and exciting music experience for our Music Together family! Maren teaches our Wednesday classes. SARAH MCCAFFREY is a flutist and singer-songwriter, who graduated from the Eastman School of Music, and holds a teaching certificate in music. She performs with her own folk-rock band: Waiting for Jerry, as well as with classical groups. Her love of music of all types shines through her energetic and upbeat teaching style. Sarah teaches our Monday class.
